For the planters at Friends and Family, we wanted to create a sidewalk delineation for the patio that would be cheerful, colorful, and lush. The area gets very hot and sunny in the summer in the heart of Portland, so the planters are full of grasses and other drought tolerant plants that add texture, color, and height. Yarrow, anise hyssop, and echinacea pallida ground the design alongside blue fescue, with gaura and nigella adding floating motion and energy above.
